Facts Check Analysis: On Nov 23, the UP government approved a fund of Rs. 1,260 crore for acquisition of land for the proposed Jewar airport in Gautam Buddh Nagar, according to an official document.

A total of 5,000 hectare land is needed for the development of the proposed Greenfield international airport and cost Rs. 15,000 crore to Rs. 20,000 crore. The Governor has approved sanction of Rs. 1,259 crore for the acquisition of land for the Jewar Airport in the financial year 2018-19.

The Jewar airport, which will be constructed in the National Capital Region (NCR), is expected to be operational by 2022.

The claims of the airport being the fourth largest in the world are false, as there are no official reports come out on the size of the Airport. However there is no official confirmation on the name.

As per Jagran, the Airport could be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee and would be the Worlds. Fifth largest Airport. This was quoted by local MP and Cabinet minister Mahesh Sharma.  As per the newspaper the airport will be inaugurated on Atal Bihari’s birthday, on 25th December.
