18 warships (5 US, 11 from India and 2 from Japan) dozens of fighter jets, 2 submarines (India and the US ) reconnaissance aircraft are taking part in the exercise at Chennai coast in the Bay of Bengal.

In view of China's expansionist policy and its growing steps in the disputed Southern China Sea, the warfare of India, the US and Japan's navies in the Indian Ocean is being considered as a significant strategic point of view for India. This practice done since 1992, when Malabar exercise series started between India and US navies. The scope of this multi-faceted practice with the participation of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force (JEMSDIF), has become more powerful and is constantly expanding.

China is in nervousness with the combined maneuvers of India, America and Japan in Malabar. The US fleet includes one million tonnes of aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, Nuclear Power-powered USS Nimitz, FA-18 Fighter Jets.

Apart from this, US Navy's USS - includes the Jacksonville submarine and P8A aircraft, including Princeton, Howard, Shawp, Kidde Warship.
