Andheri , Mumbai, Jan 6 - Veteran Actor Om Puri is no with us. He was 66 years of age and expired early Friday morning due to cardiac arrest at his residence in Andheri.
He was one of the finest film actors in film industry. He had several films in his name. He was also awarded Padma Shri and National Film Award. He was highly appreciated for his role of Nahari in Film Gandhi, directed by Richard Attenborough. Recently he was famous for his acting in Singh is King, Mere Baap Pahle Aap, Hangama and Don2.
He was also known for his exceptional dialogue delivery and acting in the TV serials like Bharat ek Khoj and Savdhaan India.
Family Background – He was married to Seema Kapoor (Sister of veteran actor Anoo Kapoor) in year 1991. Due to some personal reasons, this marriage could last only 8 months. Later he married to Nandita Puri and were together till 2013. They had a son named Ishaan.
Few days back Om Puri was criticized for his statement against Indian that “army men join army on their own will, no body forces them to do so”. He was hugely criticized on social media for this statement. Next day he apologized for his statement.
We will hugely miss Om Puri jee for his acting and commitments to the film industry.
